Shun Shun's drawing

“I just want to draw the elements as if tracing a landscape,” says Shun Shun, who calls his profession a drawing artist.
If you look up a drawing in a dictionary, it says, "Art production technique or work that draws the shape of an object, light and darkness, etc. on a plane. Drawing in French, drawing in English."
If it is drawing or drawing that faithfully draws the object, I think that Mr. Shunshun's drawing, which draws the atmosphere of the place with a single line of a ballpoint pen, is closer to an illustration. did.
I don't understand the original meaning of each word as an art term because I am not a specialist, but the role of illustration is to illustrate the information contained in the subject matter and convey it in an easy-to-understand manner. I think it will be.
However, the sympathy that people who see Mr. Shun Shun's paintings feel unintentionally is not due to the illustrated information, but the subjective space that the artist himself would have seen at that time is what he is now. Isn't it something that appears in front of you?
In other words, the painting does not exist as a medium, but as a projection of the author's impression.
As he describes his work as "drawing honestly, simply, quickly," he holds a piece of paper and a pen and "draws on the spot," a primitive act that does not change no matter how the times evolve. I think it is appropriate to call it a "drawing".
Three masking tapes are used to capture the scenery of Mr. Shun Shun's former trip. Every time you gently pull out the tape, you will be relieved by the quiet drawing.
