CATA trash can magazine rack swing
This is a project to make things take shape that would be nice if they existed.
The CATA (model) Project began based on the theme of creating comfortable designs that let one feel movement and connection without being limited with regard to molding.
Created experimentally by designer Satoshi Umeno and modeler Koutaro Shima, these products are not made through mass production in a so-called metal mold, but are individually handmade by artisans in Japan (Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture) who pour the material into rubber molds.
This project makes good use of the skill and experience acquired from the continued production of models in Takaoka, which is famous for its cast metal.
This is a trash can that makes fun spinning and rotating movements like a self-righting doll when you touch it lightly or throw rubbish into the can.
Its standby position - always facing a different direction - will get you attached.
You can also use it as a magazine rack.
