Linen cloth sashiko kit Shippo Tsunagi
Fabric Forest/Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture NONA/Suginami Ward, Tokyo
This sashiko kit uses high-quality linen woven in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, which is famous for Enshu textiles.
Even if you are a sashiko beginner, you can easily enjoy sashiko as you just need to sashiko according to the pattern on the tailored cloth.
Blessed with a warm climate and rich nature, the Enshu region flourished as one of Japan's three major cotton textile producing regions since the Edo period, rivaling Senshu in Osaka and Mikawa in Aichi.
The linen woven by one of the few craftsmen these days is a masterpiece that conveys the traditions and techniques of Enshu textiles that have been passed down from generation to generation.
The fabric passes easily when inserted with the needle, and is characterized by the soft texture and rich expression that only natural materials can provide.
Sashiko designs are printed on the linen cloth using special ink that disappears with water.
The design is an arrangement of "Shippo Tsunagi".
The overlapping circles of ``Shippo Tsunagi'' symbolize ``harmony,'' ``harmony,'' and ``overlapping connections,'' and are said to bring good luck.
In order to take advantage of the natural texture of linen, we are particular about the sashiko thread, and we have combined it with plant-dyed thread.
Comes with a tassel charm with small handmade temari.
The cloth is large, measuring 50 cm square, so you can use it as a wrap, cover, or rug, depending on your ideas.
Enjoy living with handmade linens at Cohana.
