Kokeshi dolls passed down in the mountainous regions of Tohoku
It is said that it began when ``Kijishi'', who saw wood to make bowls and trays, began making them at hot spring baths.
Tsugaru Kokeshi Museum is located in Kuroishi City, Aomori Prefecture, the birthplace of Tsugaru Kokeshi dolls.
The Kokeshi Museum, which was born as a result of a movement by local volunteers to build a Kokeshi doll museum, not only displays and sells Kokeshi dolls, but also holds production demonstrations and events, and has also put effort into developing new works.
Among the 11 traditional kokeshi dolls, the Tsugaru type has the shortest history and has developed based on innovative ideas and a variety of shapes, colors, and techniques. It is said that it was influenced by "Nebuta-e", and one of its features is its colorful colors.
The "Kokeshi needle holder" is made by mixing the okappa head, which is a feature of Tsugaru Kokeshi dolls, with bright colors.
A palm-sized kokeshi doll with a cute innocent expression. The inside has a pincushion, and there are 3 needles from Mehosa Hachirobei Shoten.
