Needle holder for polishing the needles of Awaji tiles
Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture is blessed with high-quality soil and is one of the leading producers of roof tiles in Japan. Using rich soil and craftsmanship, we have created a ``needle yasume'' with a flower motif made of Awaji tiles.
Awaji tiles originated in 1610. It started when tiles were made for castle construction, and later developed with the construction boom of the Edo period.
There are several types of Awaji tiles depending on how they are made, and this needle tile with a flower motif is a ``ceramic tile'' that is glazed and fired. Depending on the color of the glaze, the appearance of the finished product will vary. Each item has its own individuality, resulting in colorful needles and threads that add a touch of beauty to your handicraft time.
There is a magnet inside the needle and eyelet, so you can keep the needle on top of the flower. When polishing the needle, slowly insert the needle tip into the hole on the side and press the bottom part while polishing to make it easier to thread through the fabric.
