Threading Haibara Chiyogami

We carefully selected three types of traditional patterns passed down in Haibara, and created thread loops using chiyogami paper that was reprinted in Cohana's original colors.
The smooth texture of high-quality Japanese paper and the stable handle make it easy to thread the thread through small needle holes.
The hexagon is considered an auspicious shape that symbolizes harmony and stability, and has long been used for celebrations and special gifts.
Haibara is a long-established washi paper shop in Nihonbashi, Tokyo that has been in business for over 200 years. Since its founding in the late Edo period, the company has commissioned designs from painters and artists who were active at the time to create original Chiyogami paper, which it still sells today.
Haibara Chiyogami has been loved by many people throughout the ages. During the Meiji period of civilization and enlightenment, its exquisite beauty was highly valued even in overseas countries, and it played a role in the driving force behind Japonism in Western Europe.
