Hakone marquetry is a traditional craft that takes advantage of the colors of the many natural woods found in Hakone and assembles them to create various patterns into products such as boxes.
Using the delicate technique of marquetry, we created a flower pin made of colorful pieces of wood.
Produced by Yosegi Kobo Gin, a Hakone craftsman.
In order to pass on the technology and spread the word about the charm of the production area, we also participate in lectures and woodworking technology restoration projects overseas, such as in Kyrgyzstan.
The soft natural colors unique to solid wood express the individuality of each tree, giving each flower in the marquetry a gentle expression.
The needles used are strong and flexible needles made in Hiroshima, which has a history of about 300 years as a needle production center.
We are particular about the thickness and length of the needle that is easy to use, and the threading of the fabric is very smooth.
