Japan's thread spools have a long history, and among the many types of thread spools, the large square wooden frame used to wrap spun threads is called an ``Odamaki,'' and has been a familiar item used in weaving since ancient times.
This old-fashioned thread spool is made by assembling 5mm square brass and wrapped with easy-to-use glossy white and black silk thread.
The spools are manufactured by Takatsuji Seisakusho, located in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, which is famous as a foundry town.
The technique passed down for 400 years is widely known as traditional craft Takaoka Copperware, and Takatsuji Seisakusho makes use of this traditional technique to produce small Buddhist altar items, mainly for household Buddhist altars.
Thanks to its high precision and careful polishing technology, we have created a thread spool with a dignified appearance.
The silk thread was applied to the spools by MARIMO, a workshop in Chikugo City, Fukuoka Prefecture, which specializes in making small tassels and knots.
The beautiful hand-rolled finish is truly a masterpiece of craftsmanship.
There is a notch for inserting the end of the thread, so you can rewind it with your favorite thread.
